This work was created during my artist residency at the KKV studio in Gothenburg,Sweden. The figure adrift on the water is a homeless person I encountered in front of Clapham Junction station in London, lying quietly on a mattress, asleep. He probably was in a deep dream.
One September evening, standing by a lake in Gothenburg, I watched the ripples spread across the darkening surface, and his image drifted back to me.
Adrift was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025.
